“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
-Aaron Siskind
Photographs should tell a story about you, in a place natural to you.
Portraiture should follow the subject. Black backgrounds have their place, but largely these images should exist in the places you hold dear or feel the most like yourself. In other words, they should not be staged in an unfamiliar environment where you can’t feed off of past energies. Whether it’s that trail you always go to or in your favorite museum, the backdrop foreshadows who you are beyond an expression, pose, or outfit.
